INSIDE ACADEMIC RESEARCH: PERSPECTIVES FROM LEAD RESEARCHERS AT MAKERERE UNIVERSITY

Abstract

This study delves into the nature and motive of academic research as perceived by lead researchers at Makerere University, Uganda. Through qualitative interviews, the research explores the underlying motivations, challenges, and aspirations that drive academic research endeavors within the university's academic community. Findings shed light on the diverse perspectives, disciplinary differences, and institutional contexts that shape the research landscape at Makerere University. The study offers insights into the multifaceted nature of academic research, providing valuable reflections for researchers, administrators, and policymakers seeking to foster a vibrant and impactful research culture in higher education institutions.
