Peer Review Process for Oscar Publishing Services

1. Submission of Manuscripts

  • Initial Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts through the Oscar Publishing Services online submission system. Each submission must include the main manuscript, figures, tables, supplementary materials, and a cover letter.

2. Initial Manuscript Screening

  • Editorial Office Check: Upon receipt, the editorial office conducts an initial screening to ensure the manuscript meets basic submission requirements, including formatting, completeness, and adherence to the journal's guidelines.
  • Editor-in-Chief Review: The Editor-in-Chief (EiC) reviews the manuscript to assess its fit with the journal's scope and its potential scientific impact. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria are promptly rejected without further review.

3. Assignment to Associate Editor

  • Editor Assignment: If the manuscript passes the initial screening, it is assigned to an Associate Editor (AE) with expertise in the relevant subject area.
  • Conflict of Interest Check: The AE checks for any potential conflicts of interest and may recuse themselves if a conflict exists.

4. Selection of Reviewers

  • Reviewer Identification: The AE identifies at least two (preferably three) independent reviewers who are experts in the field. Reviewers should have no conflicts of interest with the authors or the research.
  • Invitation to Review: Selected reviewers are invited to review the manuscript. The invitation includes the manuscript title, abstract, and an estimated deadline for the review.

5. Peer Review Process

  • Reviewer Acceptance: Reviewers accept or decline the invitation to review. If a reviewer declines, the AE selects alternative reviewers.
  • Review Criteria: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on the following criteria:
    • Originality and significance of the research
    • Clarity and quality of the writing
    • Soundness of methodology and analysis
    • Adequacy of literature review and references
    • Validity of conclusions and interpretations
    • Ethical considerations
  • Reviewer Reports: Reviewers provide detailed, constructive feedback and recommend one of the following actions:
    • Accept without revisions
    • Accept with minor revisions
    • Revise and resubmit (major revisions required)
    • Reject

6. Editorial Decision

  • Review Evaluation: The AE evaluates the reviewers' comments and recommendations, considering the manuscript's overall quality and contribution to the field.
  • Decision Making: Based on the reviewers' feedback and their own assessment, the AE makes a recommendation to the EiC. The EiC makes the final decision, which could be:
    • Accept
    • Accept with minor revisions
    • Request major revisions
    • Reject
  • Communication to Authors: The editorial office communicates the decision to the authors, including detailed feedback from reviewers and editors.

7. Revision and Resubmission

  • Author Revisions: If revisions are required, authors are given a deadline to submit the revised manuscript. The revised manuscript should be accompanied by a detailed response to reviewers' comments.
  • Resubmission Review: The revised manuscript may be sent back to the original reviewers or new reviewers for further evaluation, depending on the extent of the revisions.

8. Final Decision

  • Acceptance: If the revised manuscript meets all requirements and addresses reviewers' concerns, it is accepted for publication.
  • Copyediting and Proofreading: Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting and proofreading to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  • Publication: The final version is formatted and published online and/or in print.

9. Post-Publication

  • Corrections and Retractions: Any post-publication issues, such as errors or ethical concerns, are addressed according to Oscar Publishing Services’ correction and retraction policies.
  • Archiving: The published articles are archived and made accessible through the journal's platform and relevant databases.

10. Reviewer Recognition

  • Acknowledgment: Reviewers’ contributions are acknowledged, and they may be invited to serve on the editorial board based on their performance and expertise.
