Arvind Kumar Saktawat , Research Scholars, Department of African Studies, University of Delhi, New Delhi, India

Abstract

This study presents a compelling biographical analysis of political prisoners who were incarcerated in the Andaman Islands during various historical periods. "Forging Freedom: Stories of Political Prisoners in the Andamans" delves into the lives, experiences, and narratives of these individuals who were detained for their political beliefs, activism, or involvement in movements challenging colonial or authoritarian regimes. Through extensive research and the examination of personal accounts, this research sheds light on the harsh conditions, resilience, and the profound impact of the Andamans on the lives of these prisoners. It provides a nuanced understanding of the struggle for freedom, both within the confines of the prison walls and in the broader context of political change.
