ROLE OF AUTHENTIC MATERIALS IN ENGLISH WRITING SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
In the context of contemporary globalization, proficiency in English is becoming an increasingly crucial skill for academic, professional and social communication. One of the principal objectives of English language learning is the development of writing skills. This process necessitates meticulous attention to be paid to structural elements, stylistic conventions, coherence, and vocabulary. In the past, language teaching was largely based on the use of textbooks and other simplified materials. Nevertheless, in recent years there has been a noticeable increase in the use of authentic materials in the classroom, particularly in the context of English writing skills development. Such materials are defined as those created with the specific intention of facilitating real-world communication, as opposed to being designed with the specific purpose of language learning in mind. This article examines the role of authentic materials in developing proficiency in English writing, discussing their advantages, limitations, and practical methods for integrating them into writing instruction.
