CHOOSING AUTHENTIC MATERIALS IN ENGLISH TEACHING: A COMPREHENSIVE FRAMEWORK FOR EFFECTIVE LANGUAGE ACQUISITION

Abstract

Authentic materials play a pivotal role in English language teaching as they reflect real-world language usage and cultural contexts, thereby enhancing learners' language proficiency and cultural competence. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the significance of authentic materials in English teaching and proposes a framework for selecting and utilizing authentic materials effectively in language classrooms. Drawing upon theoretical perspectives and empirical studies, this paper explores the benefits, challenges, and strategies associated with authentic materials integration. Furthermore, it offers practical recommendations for teachers to incorporate authentic materials in their teaching practices, fostering a dynamic and engaging language learning environment conducive to learners' linguistic and intercultural development.
