This article explores the role of teacher competence in ensuring educational quality from a pedagogical perspective. It provides a scientific rationale which demonstrates that, within contemporary education systems, the quality of education is directly linked to the levels of teachers` professional, methodological, communicative, digital, and reflective competencies. The study analyzes the functional relationships among the competency-based approach, educational quality indicators, and teachers` professional performance. According to these analyses, a conceptual model is proposed that considers teacher competence as an essential indicator of education quality. The findings reveal that the systematic development of teacher competence contributes substantially to improving the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process, enhancing students` learning outcomes, and boosting the overall performance of educational institutions.
