The Classification Of Crime Terminologies
Abstract
Terminology is central to criminological inquiry, legal interpretation, and comparative analysis. The concept of “crime” varies across legal systems, sociological paradigms, and contextual applications. This article proposes a comprehensive classification of crime terminologies grounded in doctrinal legal definitions, sociological perspectives, and contextual innovations such as cybercrime and environmental crime. Recognizing terminological distinctions enhances clarity in research, policy development, and criminal justice administration. The proposed framework integrates legal, actor/motive, and context based categories to facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue and empirical research.
