The article examines the desiderative semantics of Uzbek anthroponyms as a special type of nominative-motivational organization of personal names. Particular attention is paid to anthroponyms whose semantic structure reflects parents’ wishes regarding a child’s health and longevity, moral qualities, happy destiny, strength and courage, social status, intellectual development, respect in society, and material well-being. Based on their repeated structural-semantic analysis, it is proposed to combine individual motives into four broader value fields: personal and intellectual perfection; vitality and material well-being; strength and social realization; happiness and a favorable future. It is established that desiderativity in the Uzbek anthroponymicon represents not only the semantic meaning of a name, but also a special pragmatic model through which the name becomes a verbal expression of the child’s desired life program. It is shown that such anthroponyms reflect the system of traditional cultural values of the Uzbek people: life, health, morality, knowledge, honor, prosperity, social recognition, and well-being.
