English language teaching Professional lexical competence innovative approaches

The increasing role of English as a global language has made professional language competence an essential requirement in modern education, science, and workplace communication. Among the key components of communicative competence, professional lexical competence plays a crucial role, as it enables learners to understand, interpret, and appropriately use field-specific vocabulary in real professional contexts.

Traditional vocabulary teaching methods, which often rely on memorization and repetition, are insufficient for developing deep and functional lexical knowledge. As a result, modern pedagogical paradigms emphasize innovative, learner-centered approaches that integrate authenticity, technology, interaction, and task-based learning. These approaches provide learners with opportunities to encounter vocabulary in meaningful contexts and actively apply it in professional communication.

This article explores innovative approaches to developing professional lexical competence in English. Particular attention is paid to communicative language teaching, task-based learning, authentic media materials, digital technologies, interactive learning strategies, and multimedia resources. The article also discusses the pedagogical benefits of these approaches and their contribution to vocabulary acquisition, professional communication, and lifelong learning.
