The Peculiarities Of Attracting Investment To Enterprises In Developing Countries

Salokhiddinov Jaloliddin , Doctoral Student at the Academy of Banking and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan

Abstract

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) stands as a cornerstone of modern economic development. It represents far more than a simple transfer of capital; it is a critical conduit for advanced technology, innovative managerial practices, and vital access to global value chains and markets. For the nations of the Global South, FDI is not merely beneficial—it is indispensable. The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) estimates an annual investment gap of US$2.5 trillion required for developing nations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a chasm that domestic resources alone cannot bridge. FDI is thus positioned as an essential partner in the pursuit of sustainable global development.
