Abstract
This study investigates the intersection of traditional artistic practices and contemporary interpretations through the lens of Yangon’s renowned colossus—a monumental figure that symbolizes both cultural heritage and artistic inspiration. The colossus, a pivotal landmark in Yangon (formerly Rangoon), has long been a source of fascination for artists and creators, serving as a muse that transcends conventional artistic boundaries. This research focuses on how the serene presence of the colossus has influenced the development and stylistic evolution of pasteboard art in the region.
This study delves into the unique interplay between the serene ambiance exuded by the iconic Colossus of Yangon and the innovative world of pasteboard art. Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, is home to numerous cultural and historical landmarks, with the Colossus being one of its most majestic symbols. The Colossus, a towering statue representing a significant historical or cultural figure, not only draws tourists and locals alike but also casts a profound influence on the city’s artistic landscape. This research aims to explore how this monumental presence fosters a tranquil environment that inspires and shapes the creations of local pasteboard artists.
