This article explores the diplomatic practices of India and Pakistan in the second half of the twentieth century, focusing on the interaction between military conflict and negotiation processes. The study analyzes key historical events, including major wars and peace agreements, to identify recurring patterns in bilateral relations. It reveals that diplomacy in Indo-Pakistani relations was largely crisis-driven and functioned as a mechanism for conflict management rather than resolution. The research also highlights the asymmetry in diplomatic approaches, with India emphasizing bilateralism and Pakistan seeking international mediation. Additionally, the role of external powers during the Cold War is examined as a significant factor influencing diplomatic behavior.
