Distinctive Traditions In Uzbek National Handicrafts

Abstract

This article examines the distinctive traditions of Uzbek national handicrafts as an essential component of cultural heritage and social identity. It explores the historical development of traditional crafts, their regional diversity, and the mechanisms through which artisanal knowledge has been transmitted across generations. Special attention is given to the role of handicrafts in preserving cultural continuity under the conditions of globalization and modernization. The study highlights the balance between tradition and innovation, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding cultural authenticity while adapting crafts to contemporary economic and cultural contexts. The findings demonstrate that Uzbek handicrafts function not only as material products but also as carriers of historical memory, aesthetic values, and social meaning, contributing to sustainable cultural development and identity preservation.
