Workplace stress and intrinsic motivation are two interrelated organizational and psychological factors that can substantially influence the performance of university teachers. Academic work involves teaching, research, administrative responsibilities, student supervision, evaluation, and institutional service, creating a work environment in which excessive demands may undermine professional effectiveness while intrinsic motivation may sustain engagement and performance. This research develops an analytical model for examining the relationship between workplace stress, intrinsic motivation, and academic performance among higher education faculty. The study adopts a conceptual research and review approach based exclusively on the supplied literature, synthesizing evidence concerning occupational stress, employee motivation, self-determination, performance, workplace well-being, and human-resource management. Particular attention is given to the relevance of occupational stress among university staff and to psychological factors that may shape professional functioning. The proposed model conceptualizes workplace stress as a potentially negative predictor of academic performance and intrinsic motivation as a positive motivational mechanism. It further proposes that intrinsic motivation may partially buffer the adverse consequences of occupational stress by strengthening persistence, engagement, and task commitment. The analysis indicates that stress should not be treated as an isolated organizational variable because its performance consequences depend on psychological resources and work conditions. The framework provides a theoretically grounded basis for future empirical testing through faculty surveys and structural modeling techniques.
