Fiction intellectual development of the individual ontological aspect

This article examines the role of fiction in the intellectual development of the individual from ontological and epistemological perspectives. It views the literary text as a specific form of human engagement with reality capable of influencing conceptions of the world, the human being, values, and one’s own existence. The ontological aspect is revealed through an analysis of literature’s influence on worldview, self-awareness, and the ability of the individual to comprehend their own being. The epistemological aspect concerns the potential of literary texts to expand cognitive experience and develop the abilities of interpretation, analysis, comparison of different positions, and critical understanding of information.
