This article analyzes the interpretation of the phenomenon of unemployment and idleness within the history of Eastern philosophical and religious thought from ontological and axiological perspectives. The philosophy of labor in the teachings of Zoroastrianism, Islam, Sufism, and Jadidism is comparatively studied, revealing their common and distinct aspects. The research indicates that in all these doctrines, labor is interpreted as an expression of human ontological existence, moral purification, and social responsibility, while idleness is condemned not only as an economic issue but also as a profound moral-existential vice. This philosophical heritage holds significant gnoseological importance for understanding the contemporary problem of unemployment.
