The article presents the results of a pedagogical experiment aimed at improving the methodology for developing students’ practical competencies in geography lessons. The effectiveness of competency-based, problem-based, project-based and inquiry-based approaches, as well as modern educational technologies, was examined. The results confirmed the effectiveness of the improved methodology in developing students’ practical competencies in geography education.
