LINGUOCULTURAL ANALYSIS OF PAREMIOLOGICAL DICTIONARIES IN KARAKALPAK AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES
Abstract
Language is a powerful tool that reflects the cultural identity and worldview of its speakers. Proverbs, in particular, are rich linguistic expressions that encapsulate the collective wisdom, traditions, and values of a culture. The study of proverbs, known as paremiology, provides invaluable insights into the way different societies perceive the world and convey their experiences. In this article, we will conduct a linguocultural analysis of paremiological dictionaries in the Karakalpak and English languages. Paremiological dictionaries serve as vital resources for documenting and preserving the proverbial wisdom of a culture. Through a comparative approach, this study will examine the linguistic features and cultural meanings embedded in the proverbs of both languages, highlighting how proverbs function as a bridge between language and culture. The Karakalpak and English languages represent two distinct linguistic and cultural traditions. By analyzing proverbs from these two languages, we aim to uncover the similarities and differences in how they express values, beliefs, and social norms.
