The article under discussion depicts the problems of the relationship between science and engineering higher educational institutions and possible approaches to overcoming them with the application of new technologies, creation of more flexible study programmes and active participation of students in research activities. The authors of the article consider that the case study method in engineering higher educational institutions offers a wide range of educational opportunities. It is necessary to use such educational methods through which students will be able to acquire both knowledge and skills and form the necessary set of professional competences. Thanks to the effective organisation of the educational process the student will be competitive in the labour market and will attract the attention of employers of serious and promising companies.

The article investigates the effect on the change in the structure of the alloy of the element germanium on the alloy grade D 16 from alloys of the aluminum-copper system using experiments. The study showed how it changes the microstructure of the alloy.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, have revolutionized various industries with their ability to gather high-resolution data from aerial perspectives. In urban areas, UAVs offer immense potential for inspection and monitoring tasks, including infrastructure, buildings, and environmental assessments. However, their full potential can be further harnessed by leveraging Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) to enhance data processing and analysis capabilities. This study presents a case study for urban areas inspection, where UAVs equipped with ANNs are utilized to improve the efficiency and accuracy of data interpretation. The research explores the integration of ANNs into UAV systems and demonstrates their impact on streamlining inspection processes. Through a combination of data collection, ANN training, and performance evaluation, the study highlights the advantages of this synergy in urban inspection applications. The findings showcase the potential of ANNs in expanding UAV capabilities, providing valuable insights for urban planners, infrastructure managers, and industries seeking to optimize inspection and monitoring tasks.

The scientific research illustrates that the results of experimental studies to determine the loading of the recommended design of the compound paws with a rubber shock absorber of the mechanism for moving materials in a sewing machine. Based on the analysis of the obtained oscillograms and the constructed graphical dependencies, the best parameters of the shock absorber and the compound paws of the sewing machine are recommended.

The research of operational indicators of compressor units shows that undercooling of air in reciprocating compressors for every 5-6 ℃ increases energy consumption for air compression by 1%, and productivity decreases by 8-10%, which leads to tangible economic losses in compressed air production. The existing cooling systems of compressor units have a number of significant shortcomings due to the peculiarities of their operation, the paper considers various ways to improve the operation of the cooling system, proposed new technical solutions, the implementation of which will reduce the energy consumption of compressor units.

This study reviews the diverse barrier layers employed in InGaAs MOSFETs and their influence on device characteristics, such as threshold voltage, subthreshold swing, and transconductance. Additionally, the survey investigates the effect of indium content adjustments on the overall performance of these devices. Through a synthesis of recent research findings, this survey offers insights into the optimization and design of high-performance InGaAs MOSFETs.
