This study investigates the role of English language background as a predictor for students' speaking skills in Pakistan. The proficiency of English speaking among students is crucial in the context of the country's growing emphasis on English as a global language and its significance in academic and professional domains. The study examines how students' exposure to English language learning, their socio-economic background, and the educational environment influence their speaking skills. A mixed-method research approach was employed, involving surveys and interviews with students from various educational institutions across Pakistan. The findings shed light on the complex relationship between English language background and students' speaking skills, providing valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and stakeholders to enhance language teaching methodologies and support students' language development.

In the article, the role of home artistic detail in Shukur Kholmirzayev`s novel “Last Stop” and Valentin Rasputin`s short story “Fire” in revealing the content of the work, the author`s views on the social life of the historical period in which the work was written, and the problems existing in it exspression was comparatively analyzed.

The research utilizes a mixed-method approach, including surveys and interviews, to gather data from Iranian EFL learners. The findings reveal significant connections between emotional intelligence and the adoption of specific reading strategies, providing implications for language educators to develop tailored pedagogical approaches that foster emotional intelligence and enhance reading proficiency in EFL contexts.

Phraseology, the study of multi-word expressions and fixed language patterns, plays a critical role in language learning. While vocabulary and grammar are often emphasized, the importance of phraseology in achieving fluency and communicative competence is often overlooked. This article explores the crucial role of phraseology in language learning and highlights its impact on language proficiency.

Phraseology provides learners with ready-made linguistic units commonly used by native speakers. Collocations, idioms, phrasal verbs, and formulaic expressions are examples of these fixed language patterns that facilitate natural and authentic language use. By internalizing these language chunks, learners can enhance their ability to produce coherent and fluent utterances and better understand native speakers.

In addition to facilitating language use, phraseology also contributes to cultural competence. Language and culture are intertwined, and culturally-specific phrases and idiomatic expressions reflect a community's values, beliefs, and social norms. Acquiring and using these phrases allows learners to navigate social contexts more effectively and establish meaningful connections with native speakers.

This research delves into the manipulation of words, terms, and idioms in the context of political agenda and discourse during electioneering and referendum campaigns in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The study investigates how politicians strategically use language to advance their political goals and shape public opinion. Through qualitative analysis of speeches, media interviews, and campaign materials, this research sheds light on the tactics employed to influence voters and gain support. The findings reveal the significance of linguistic strategies in framing political narratives, promoting specific ideologies, and constructing public perceptions. By understanding the intricacies of language manipulation in the political domain, this study aims to foster critical discourse awareness and inform the public about the complexities of political communication in East Africa.
