Semantic Tree in Abstract Nouns

Semantic Tree in Abstract Nouns

Abstract nouns semantic tree core meaning

This article examines the characteristics of semantic-tree formation in abstract nouns in the Uzbek language and their lexical-semantic system. Using the lexeme “pari” (‘peri, or fairy’) as an example, it describes the development of derived meanings from the core meaning, the principle of linguistic economy, and the hierarchy of hypernymic–hyponymic, synonymic, antonymic, and associative relations. Polysemy is also analyzed from a purely linguistic perspective on the basis of the asymmetry between form and meaning and the invariant–variant approach (sememe and alloseme). The article substantiates the practical significance of semantic trees of abstract nouns for computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, and lexicography.
