This article presents a comparative-contrastive analysis of the typological differences between Uzbek and English and examines their implications for literary translation. Particular attention is paid to the structural distinctions arising from the agglutinative nature of Uzbek and the predominantly analytical character of English, including differences in word formation, grammatical categories, word order, syntactic organization, and the expression of semantic relations. The study also explores lexical-semantic, phraseological, stylistic, and cultural discrepancies that create specific challenges in translating literary texts between the two languages. It is argued that typological asymmetry significantly influences the translator’s choice of grammatical transformations, lexical substitutions, syntactic restructuring, explicitation, modulation, and compensation strategies.
