This study examines English words and phraseological units that can express politeness in educational discourse. It integrates politeness theory, rapport management, speech-act analysis, and research on formulaic language in university registers. The educational specificity of the field lies in its dual task. The same expressions manage social relations while organizing participation, protecting learner face during correction, calibrating epistemic authority, and maintaining institutional efficiency. Modal interrogatives, stance frames, supportive moves, gratitude formulae, and prospective suggestions often operate in layered combinations rather than as isolated markers.
