The Scientific Significance of Ziyovuddin Makki Khwarazmiy's Kifāyatu-N-Naḥw Fī ʿIlm Al-Iʿrāb

Arabic grammar Ziyovuddin Makki Khwarazmiy Khwarazm scholarly tradition

Kifāyatu-n-Naḥw fī ʿIlm al-Iʿrāb by Ziyovuddin Makki Khwarazmiy is one of the valuable contributions to the classical tradition of Arabic grammatical studies in Central Asia. The work reflects the high level of linguistic scholarship achieved by Muslim scholars of the Khwarazm school and demonstrates a systematic approach to the study of Arabic syntax (naḥw) and inflection (iʿrāb). The treatise served not only as an educational manual for students of Islamic sciences but also as a bridge between the grammatical traditions of Basra and Kufa. Its scientific significance lies in its concise methodology, pedagogical clarity, and integration of grammatical theory with Qur'anic interpretation and Arabic rhetoric. The work remains an important historical source for understanding the development of Arabic linguistics in the medieval Islamic world.
