Objectives: To evaluate the causes of increasing rates of elective Caesarean section. As well as to assess factors that contributing in choosing cesarean birth. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study. The study was conducted at the Maternity and Gynecology Hospital in Karbala province in Iraq. Current study employed 150 pregnant women in Karbala city who either preferred or underwent a cesarean section by maternal request. Result: current study on 150 pregnant women to assess a factors inducing Caesarean section and its preference. A (65.3%) below 30 years old, 81.3% lived in urban regions, and 70.7% were not work. Most clinical suggestions for Caesarean birth were dystocia (35.3%), distress of fetus (19.3%), an elective cause’s involved fear of vaginal birth (10.7%), ligation in the tubal (5.3%) and worry about the fetal wellbeing (2.0%). Total, 79.3% of mothers were choose Caesarean birth, while 20.7% did. Conclusion: The findings of this study highlight that while cesarean delivery is often performed for medical reasons such as dystocia and fetal distress, a notable proportion of women choose cesarean sections for non-medical reasons, primarily fear of labor and the desire for tubal ligation.
