The digital transformation of media communication has intensified lexical innovation processes across languages. This article investigates the ideological and pragmatic functions of neologisms in Uzbek and English media discourse between 2016 and 2025. Drawing upon discourse theory developed by Teun A. van Dijk and critical discourse analysis proposed by Norman Fairclough, the study proposes a Three-Level Pragmatic Model of Neologism Functioning in Media Discourse. The corpus includes 420 neological units collected from online news platforms and digital political commentary. The findings demonstrate that neologisms perform nominative, expressive, evaluative, manipulative, and identity-forming functions. While English media exhibits more systematic ideological framing, Uzbek media demonstrates intensive hybridization and sociocultural identity construction. The study contributes to media linguistics, discourse analysis, and neology research in underrepresented linguistic contexts.
