Abstract

This article examines the lexical-syntactical stylistic means employed by James Joyce in his modernist novel Ulysses. The study focuses on the interaction between lexical innovation and syntactical experimentation in the representation of human consciousness, emotional perception, and psychological depth. Particular attention is devoted to stylistic devices such as antonomasia, metaphor, repetition, ellipsis, polysyndeton, parallel constructions, and stream of consciousness technique. The analysis demonstrates that Joyce transforms language into an independent artistic system where lexical deviation and syntactical fragmentation function as important mechanisms of modernist narration. The article also reveals how stylistic devices contribute to the creation of rhythmic organization, semantic complexity, and cognitive realism in the novel. Through linguistic experimentation, Joyce expands the expressive possibilities of literary language and establishes Ulysses as one of the most innovative works of twentieth-century modernist prose.
