Euphemisms play a significant role in shaping public discourse by mitigating sensitive issues and influencing audience perception. This study presents a comparative pragmatic analysis of euphemism usage in English and Uzbek publicistic texts, with a particular focus on media discourse. The research investigates the linguistic forms, pragmatic functions, and socio-cultural implications of euphemisms across the two languages. Using qualitative and comparative methods, the study analyzes authentic examples from newspapers and online media sources. The findings indicate that euphemisms serve not only as politeness strategies but also as tools of ideological framing and manipulation. Furthermore, cultural context plays a crucial role in determining the effectiveness of euphemism translation. The study contributes to the fields of pragmatics, discourse analysis, and translation studies by providing insights into cross-cultural communication and media language.
