Amino Alcohols: Synthesis Approaches, Chemical Reactivity, And Contemporary Applications

Karimov Javohir Sobirzoda , Assistant of the Department of Medical and Biological Chemistry, Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sina, Uzbekistan

Abstract

Amino alcohols, compounds featuring both amino (-NH₂) and hydroxyl (-OH) functional groups, play a crucial role in modern organic chemistry due to their bifunctional nature, enabling applications in asymmetric synthesis, catalysis, and the production of biologically active substances. This review explores various synthesis methods, including epoxide ring-opening, reductive amination, and multicomponent reactions, while emphasizing stereochemical control and environmental sustainability. It also examines their reactivity in nucleophilic substitutions, epoxide openings, and Mannich reactions, highlighting their utility as chiral ligands. Drawing from empirical and theoretical studies up to 2025, the analysis evaluates process efficiency and ecological viability, integrating fundamental and practical aspects of organic synthesis. Contemporary applications span pharmaceuticals, materials science, and agrochemistry, with a focus on chiral derivatives and bio-active compounds.
