This study examines cognitive emotional coping capability as a central determinant of social integration and adaptation profiles among older adult populations in South Asia. The research conceptualizes coping capability as a hybrid construct integrating cognitive processing efficiency with emotional regulation stability, influencing how individuals adapt to technologically mediated and socially evolving environments. Drawing from socio-technical adaptation literature and gerontological resilience perspectives, the study develops a multidimensional analytical framework that connects psychological coping systems with external interaction infrastructures.
The theoretical foundation integrates adaptive system models, human-computer interaction frameworks, and socio-environmental aging theories. Prior work highlights that adaptive capability in complex systems emerges from continuous interaction between internal cognitive regulation and external environmental structures (Müller-Schloer & Schmeck, 2011). In parallel, aging research demonstrates that psychosocial adjustment is strongly associated with resilience and emotional regulation capacity in older adults (Agarwal, Usha Rani, & V, 2023).
Methodologically, the study adopts an observational analytical design focusing on cognitive-emotional and social integration indicators across heterogeneous older adult cohorts. Variables include emotional regulation stability, cognitive coping flexibility, social participation intensity, and digital interaction accessibility. The analytical model evaluates how these factors collectively shape adaptation profiles in varying socio-cultural contexts.
Findings suggest that cognitive emotional coping capability significantly predicts social integration success, particularly when mediated by access to structured community systems and adaptive communication platforms. Older adults with higher cognitive flexibility and emotional stability demonstrate stronger adaptation trajectories, while those with limited coping resources exhibit fragmented social integration patterns. The study further identifies nonlinear relationships between social interaction frequency and psychological stability, indicating an optimal adaptation threshold.
The study contributes to theoretical advancement by linking cognitive emotional regulation models with socio-technical adaptation frameworks. It also highlights policy implications for designing inclusive digital and community-based support systems for aging populations in South Asia.
